ABOUT ME
Hello and welcome!!
My name is Jo and I am a quilt maker, pattern designer and quilt educator.
I started my business at the end of 2019 when I was living in San Diego, CA. Then moved to Austin, TX, my hometown, and continued business there until 2023. I am now located in Santa Cruz, CA. I quilt in my home studio: sewing and crafting is completely integrated into my lifestyle. Thank you for supporting this homemade business - this passion project wouldn’t exist without the people who support local and handmade art.
In addition to quilt commissions, I teach several quilt making classes at Cabrillo College in Santa Cruz and I offer private lessons both in the Santa Cruz Country area and online.
My mother’s maiden name is Gudewich - a Polish name - but was changed to be pronounced “Good Witch” upon her family’s arrival in Ellis Island in the early 20th century. I try to be a “good witch” as much as possible in my daily life. I hope my products can create positivity for you.
The items in our home are more important than we often realize. Home is where we seek comfort and sanctuary, and where we can reflect upon and radiate our innermost selves without scrutiny or judgment. In a chaotic world, home is more important than ever.
philosophyMy goal is to bring functional objects of art back into our homes. I want to connect the individual with their community and the environment through handmade, local and sustainable goods. Synthesizing contemporary and traditional, I make quilts and quilted goods that provide a minimalist flair to this historic craft.
